Regulations for Dormitory Residents

Article 1. Title and Objective

  • 1. These regulations are entitled the Regulation for Dormitory Residents of Inha University.
  • 2. The objective of these regulations are to provide guidelines to enable dormitory residents to live together harmoniously and pleasantly to facilitate better study and research activities.

Article 2. Daily Living Schedule

  • Living in the dormitory shall be restricted to the following schedule.
  • Schedule Time
    Breakfast 07 : 30 ~ 09 : 20
    Lunch 11 : 30 ~ 13 : 30
    Dinner 17 : 30 ~ 19 : 30
    Roll Calling 24 : 00
    Gate opening / Gate closing 05 : 00 / 24:00

Article 3. Roll Calling

  • 1. Residents should be present in their own rooms when roll call is taken at 24:00 everyday.
  • 2. Floor leaders and assistant managers shall be responsible for the roll call.
  • 3. Absence from the roll call shall result in a reprimand through demerit points.
  • 4. The purposes of taking roll call are as follows:
    • a) To check the number of residents
    • b) To examine the surroundings
    • c) To deliver daily directions
    • d) To take care of other necessary matters

Article 4. Dining

  • 1. For all lunches and meals on holidays and weekends, residents are required to buy meal tickets at the snack bar.
  • 2. Dormitory ID shall not be transferred to others.
  • 3. In the cafeteria, residents should be dressed decently and should not carry equipment and dishes out of the dining hall.

Article 5. Use of common facilities

  • 1. In case of fire, damages or losses of facilities through residents' faults or other reasons, residents themselves should take the responsibility of compensation.
  • 2. Moving around/out of any in-house facilities shall not be allowed without permission.
  • 3. Residents cannot change room assignments without direct approval by the dormitory supervisor.
  • 4. Use of any kind of heating equipment (stoves, irons and coffee pots, etc.) shall not be allowed.

Article 6. Sleeping out

  • 1. Staying out overnight shall be prohibited on weekdays in principle, but shall be allowed with the approval from the dormitory supervisor, if unavoidably necessary.
  • 2. For sleeping out, residents should apply in advance on the dormitory's internet web-site. (Please complete the application at least before 22:00 of the same day.)
  • 3. Sleeping out without a report filed will be prohibited in any situation (except for exceptional occasions such as, hospitalization of the resident or a family member from the direct family line, and document of proof is required.)
  • 4. Successive absences beyond one week without prior permission shall be considered to be a withdrawal.

Article 7. Visits by non-residents

  • 1. Visiting hours shall be from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • 2. Residents who would like to invite their acquaintances should fill in the Visiting Book and meet their visitors in the designated place.
  • Outside visitors shall be banned from entering each residential room. (Only family members are allowed entrance to residents' rooms with the approval of the dormitory staff.)

Article 8. Health and sanitation

  • 1. Residents should follow the regulations for the prevention of diseases required for group living.
  • 2. Any indication of disease requires immediate treatment to be sought.
  • 3. Residents should be cautious to keep indoor and outdoor items clean and in order.

Article 9. Living and manners

  • 1. Residents should behave politely when in the presence of staff members, seniors and peers.
  • 2. Residents should restrain themselves from going out of their rooms in sleeping clothes or underwear.
  • 3. Drinking alcohol indoors and smoking except in designated places are prohibited under all circumstances.
  • 4. All public notices will be posted on the bulletin board and dormitory homepage.
  • 5. Entering empty rooms of others without permission shall be banned.

Article 10. Safety of valuables

  • Residents are advised to place their cash in the banks, and any losses of personal valuables or other belongings shall be the responsibility of the students themselves.

Article 11. Confirmation and Acceptance of Delivered Packages

  • Be sure to follow the schedule below of confirmation and acceptance of Delivered Packages
  • Schedule Pick-up Time
    Morning 08:00 ~ 08:30
    Afternoon 18:00 ~ 18:30
    Evening 22:00 ~ 22:30

Article 12. Reprimands

  • Residents shall be given reprimands corresponding to the following cases of violations:
    • 1. Immediate expulsion or restriction on
      • 1) Those who did not follow the staff members or assistants, workers’ orders or made insolent remarks.
      • 2) Those whose acquire a total of over 3 demerit points.
      • 3) Those who smoke in the dormitory building.
      • 4) Those who have a leave of absence from the university, or are given reprimands for infringing the school regulations.
      • 5) Those who have not been properly registered in the university.
      • 6) Those who change rooms without permission of the dormitory supervisor.
      • 7) Those who are identified to be infected by legal epidemics or other diseases.
      • 8) Those who allow their rooms to be entered or occupied overnight by outside visitors.
      • 9) Those who occupy illegally any space of buildings.
      • 10) Those who distribute illegal materials and pornographic videos by campus internet or use it for commercial purposes.
      • 11) Those who have committed violence and assault.
      • 12) Those who used belongings of others without permission.
      • 13) Those who are given reprimands shall be restricted on a semester basis depending on the seriousness.
      • 14) Those that are considered to be unsuitable for a group living situation for other reasons.
    • 2. Actions that will result in 1 demerit point
      • 1) Those who stay out overnight without approval or appropriate reason.
      • 2) Those who try to make alterations to any in-house facilities and furniture without permission.
      • 3) Those who bring in or hide any dangerous objects, or try to use electric devices (with the exception of recorders, hair dryers and electric razors).
      • 4) Those who return to the dormitory from 24:00 to 05:00.
      • 5) Those who borrow the emergency key twice or Those who have been collected the key by others.(0.5 points)
      • 6) Those who disturb public order.
    • 3. Actions that will result in 2 demerit points
      • 1) Those who duplicate or hand over room keys to others
      • 2) Those who bring alcohol into the building.
      • 3) Those who occupy buildings without notice or damage to property.
      • 4) Those who distribute or post any printed matters without permission, or are engaged in activities of other groups which are not related to the dormitory itself.
      • 5) Those who gamble or offer the place for gambling.
      • 6) Those who violate the information network bylaw.

Article 13. Awards

  • Residents shall be given awards corresponding to the following cases with permission of dormitory supervisor:
    • 1) Those who participated in various events in good faith.
    • 2) Those who engage in volunteer work for dormitory.
    • 3) Those who have done good deeds.

Article 14. Withdrawal

  • 1. Normal Withdrawal
    • 1) Prior to leaving, residents should return all dormitory items (i.e. room keys, key chains, a bed sheet and a lan cable) to the office. It is also advised that residents ensure they take their own possessions with them.
    • ※ After the withdrawal, the deposit fee paid with the dormitory fees will be returned by remittance into the students' bank accounts.
  • 2. Withdrawal before the expiration of term
    • 1) Residents, who intend to move out before their occupancy term expires, should obtain approval from their parents or guardians.
    • 2) Residents who wish to leave should consult with the dormitory supervisor at least one week prior to their leaving, and submit the application for withdrawal to the dormitory office.
    • 3) Before moving out, residents should return all the supplied items (room keys, key chains, a bed sheet and a lan cable) and follow the necessary procedures. Taking-in-and-out of the personal belongings should be checked by the staff concerned.
    • 4) Once paid, the dormitory fees shall not be refundable in principle. Only when withdrawing for reason of military service or disease, the remainder of the dormitory fees will be refunded. However, residents who lived in the dormitory more than 1/2 of the occupancy term will receive no refunds whatsoever. (When withdrawing for other reasons after living in residence for one month, the dormitory fees shall not be refundable. During vacation, one month for military entrance and certain diseases, two weeks for personal situations are possible reasons to register for a refund.)
      Also, by the regulations for dormitory residents article 18, the students will only be able to receive the dormitory deposit, and not be able to enter during the semester.
    • 5) Withdrawal without the appropriate procedures as mentioned above shall be regarded as an offense, which shall lead to an ineligibility of refund and a permanent ban on dormitory housing.

Article 15. General rules

  • 1. Watching TV shall be allowed until 23:50 p.m. and visiting other rooms is not permitted after 24:00.
  • 2. Residents are strongly advised to participate in the trash recycling program and put wastes or recyclable items into the appropriate designated bin.
  • 3. Residents shall not park on the dormitory premises. Bikes and bicycles are an exception and should be parked in their designated place after registration at the administrative office.

Article 16. Demerit Validity Period

  • 1. The period of validity for demerit points is divided into the first semester, summer vacation, second semester, and winter vacation.
  • 2. The student must continually check and deal with any demerit points they receive.

  • 2. The enforcement of the renewed regulation begins Mar. 1, 2002.
  • 3. The enforcement of the renewed regulation begins Aug. 26, 2004.
  • 4. The enforcement of the renewed regulation begins Feb. 23, 2006.
  • 5. The enforcement of the renewed regulation begins Feb. 27, 2009.
  • 6. The enforcement of the renewed regulation begins May. 19, 2009.
  • 7. The enforcement of the renewed regulation begins Oct. 25, 2010.
  • 8. The enforcement of the renewed regulation begins May. 30, 2011.
  • 9. The enforcement of the renewed regulation begins Sep. 24, 2012.
  • 10. The enforcement of the renewed regulation begins Oct. 1, 2013.
  • 11. The enforcement of the renewed regulation begins Jan. 1, 2014.
